This is a wonderful and fulfilling opportunity for you if you enjoy
details. You will be contributing to the creation of one-of-a-kind
projects. We are not pouring 6" slabs of concrete, more so, we are
sculpturing unique works of art. Initially, it can be frustrating,
having to un-learn what you think is the way things are
traditionally done as it relates to concrete. However, after you
help create the first piece, you will realize that the process is
unlike anything you have ever participated in. I am a passionate,
creative, and business savvy artisan who looks forward to finding an
apprentice who I can train and work with in the long term. My goal
is to find someone to whom I could give more responsibilities, and
thereby free me up to further grow my company.
I own a custom concrete countertop, resurfacing, restoration,
preservation, art and design company. I am looking for a person who
is better at listening than talking. He/she needs to be physically
fit, for there are times when we are moving 50lb bags by hand. I am
not looking for someone to come in and tell me how I can better run
my business for I have invested 18 years, 100's of thousands of
dollars in advanced training and equipment in my company. If you are
offended by learning, listening or have an ego, thin-skinned or are
overly sensitive to instructions, passive-aggressive, are close
minded or, most importantly, feel you have a right of entitlement,
you need not apply.
Show me you are able to follow directions from this point on. I can
not tell you how many people call me and say "Hire me I am good".
The problem is that everything we will be doing requires the ability
to follow a plan of attack and the details are everything for if not
followed it has and will cost me thousands of dollars. Read the
following understanding that if you can't follow the directions
below to apply then continue looking.
You must have a clean valid drivers license, have current insurance,
a working vehicle (legal and tagged) and a working cell phone at all
times to qualify.
First, look at my website KulishDesignCo.com and make sure we are a
potential fit. On the very bottom of my home page, you will see a
link that says "employment oppurtunity." Clicking on it will take
you to a page on my website where you will see this same ad. On the
top of that page, click on "Click here to fill out an application".
ONCE THE FILE OPENS SAVE IT TO YOUR COMPUTER. FILL IT OUT AND THEN
EMAIL IT TO ME. If you fill it out online there will be no way to
save your changes so you must save the application to your computer
first. If you cannot email it, please fax it to 302.372.8591. This
is your first test to see if you can follow directions. If you still
have a problem, email me and I will send you the application. I will
not take calls, walk-ins or generic emailed resumes. I will set up
an interview only after you follow the above instructions. The
basics of any job is showing up on time and following instructions.
I have invested my life in creating and growing my business and need
a person that understands that they are not walking into a
partnership, more so a good long-term job with a potential for
growth. As you gain experience, your value will increase as well as
your income.
Once you get the basics, which takes several months there are
rewarding and very positive aspects, you will assist me in
manufacturing amazing, one-of-a-kind sculptures, from concrete
countertops, concrete sinks, vessels art, sculptures both vertical,
horizontal and upside-down at times. I do indoor and outdoor
projects. At times, we will be installing a concrete overlay and
making it look like brick or stone. Simply look at my website as to
see the types of projects I do. If you don't like what I am offering
spend time looking for a better position versus wasting my time and
yours emailing me. I am not posting this job offering to insult
anyone. I am posting it to find the right person and if you have
been doing something for 18 years you would learn who the right fit
is versus telling me why I am the wrong fit for you. Start your own
company if you think it's that easy.
The basics:
You must have a vehicle, clean driver's license, a working cell
phone (at all times) be drug free, healthy, open minded, take input
well and not take input as a personal attack more so as a way to
increase your value in time.
Skills: You must be extremely detail oriented and understand that
our customers invest a lot of money in my product and deserve
results as close to perfection as possible. I will never accept
something, or rationalize that something is "close enough," or
insult a customer with delivering a piece that does not meet my
extremely high standards.
You must be comfortable using all types of tools. You don't have to
be an expert, just understand that safety and precision is just as
important as correctly completing the task. I am impressed by
results, not how fast something can be done. Carpentry skills are a
plus. You must have the mindset of not rationalizing mediocrity and
accept nothing less than your best attention to detail. Everything
is in the detail with my creations: You must be able to embrace the
minutia and not see it as the enemy. If you get frustrated by things
not being easy all the time and always working out, then do not
apply. We can spend weeks creating a form that can be only used
once. When we de-mold a piece and BEFORE we begin fine-tuning it,
the de-molded piece must be as perfect as possible so that we do not
need to do extensive fine-tuning that could have been eliminated by
proper attention to detail in preparing and forming the mold - -
Every screw, every board and every detail has to be more important
than the "big picture": People see mistakes first, not what is done
right, so extreme focus is needed at all times without exception. I
reverse engineer everything I make, so rushing to put a screw in
thinking it does not matter if it is stripped or not straight would
be as bad as chipping a piece of a corner. Yes, I am tough; yes, I
set a very high bar, but I am fair, decisive, experienced and will
never ask you to do something I have not done myself.
There will be no negotiations, discussions or input from your end as
far as my creative process. I do not need a designer, architect,
graphic designer or manager.
I do need someone that wants to grow with my company and experience
amazing works that he/she can be proud of. I look forward to hearing
from you.
